Think you’ve made a mess of your life?
Not sure if God even knows you are alive, much less wants to be your friend?
Would you take a look at the following verses from Matthew 1: 5-6 and learn a bit about the heart of God?
Salmon was the father of Boaz by Rahab, Boaz was the father of Obed by Ruth, and Obed the father of Jesse. 6 Jesse was the father of David the king. David was the father of Solomon by Bathsheba who had been the wife of Uriah
Rahab…you know her, the prostitute, the whore. She was the mother of a godly man of character named Boaz.
Boaz married Ruth, a foreigner, a non-Israelite…considered to be unclean by the Israelites. Could it be that Boaz had learned unconditional love from a mother who had never known it until she met the God of Israel?
Ruth was the grandmother of King David….the greatest king Israel ever knew. In spite of his moral failure with Bathsheba, David was a man after God’s own heart.
Bathsheba….the ‘other’ woman with whom David committed adultery. The wife of Uriah, one of David’s mighty men. She was the mother of Solomon, the wisest man ever to live.
If you continue reading in Matthew 1 you eventually come to the end of the genealogy and find the final name is JESUS. Three women who seemed like the most unlikely candidates to be used by God. Three women who were the great, great, greats of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Think you’ve made an irretrievable mess of your life?
Rahab, Ruth, and Bathsheba would argue that you are exactly where God wants you. They are proof that God forgives, redeems and restores. All you have to do is run to Him.
