When Words Won’t Come….you turn to the most magnificent book of words ever penned….Holy Writ.

Today I am compelled to offer you a word from the prophet Isaiah….a word that speaks to something so many people deal with.

Fear.

We are a fear-saturated, fear-driven people.

Don’t believe me?

We fear growing old so we exercise and put on all sorts of creams to make us more youthful.

We fear heights so we stay out of skyscrapers.

We fear flying so we drive across the country on vacation.

We fear being alone so we surround ourselves with people and activities.

We fear being ridiculed so we do everything we can to fit in.

We fear public speaking, praying in public, being left out and on and one.

God offers us a word of encouragement and comfort in Isaiah 41:10. I’m offering it to you in two translations because I couldn’t decide which I liked better.

So don’t worry, because I am with you. Don’t be afraid, because I am your God. I will make you strong and will help you; I will support you with my right hand that saves you. (New Century Version)

Don’t panic. I’m with you. There’s no need to fear for I’m your God. I’ll give you strength. I’ll help you. I’ll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you. (The Message)

Why do we fear so much? I think it is because we don’t really understand Who our God is.

“He is the first and the last, the beginning and the end. He’s the keeper of creation and the creator of all. He’s the architect of the universe and the manager of all time. He always was, always is, always will be unmoved, unchanged, undefeated, and never undone.

“He’ll never leave you, never forsake you, never mislead you, never forget you, never overlook you, and never cancel your appointment in his appointment book.

“When you fall, He’ll lift you up. When you fail, He’ll forgive you. When you’re weak, He’s strong. When you’re lost, He’s your way. When you’re afraid, He’s your courage.

“He is everything, for everybody, everywhere, every time and in every way. He is your God.” (Excerpted from Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed by Priscilla Shirer)

So, dear friend, do not be afraid!
