The Loft Link-Up ~ Summer Vacation

Summer!!

Vacation!!

The two words go together like peanut butter and jelly, biscuits and gravy, Captain Kangaroo and Mr. Green Jeans! So, let’s talk about it today.

First, can you even believe summer is already here??? What happened to January, February, March, April and May? They went by faster than a NASCAR driver running for the checkered flag!

Now it is June and many people are dreaming of summer vacation. Greg and I are no different. In a few weeks we will be heading to one of our favorite places, Orange Beach, Alabama. We go there several times a year to rest and relax….and to EAT.

Eating is always a big part of summer vacation, or any vacation for that matter. We love seafood and will be making the rounds to our favorite feeding holes….Doc’s Seafood, Cayman Grill, The Steamer, and Fiddlefish. We will also enjoy breakfast out a couple of times at Another Broken Egg Cafe’ and Brick and Spoon.

What will we do on vacation, other than eat? A whole lot of nuthin!! I will read, spend lots of time with Jesus, and do some writing. I will also be doing a LOT of prep work for the launch of my new Bible study, which is coming up August 1st. (More about that in the coming days.) We will float in the lazy river at the condo complex, and enjoy the views of the bay and the Pass from our condo balcony. We will sit on ‘the dock of the bay’ and watch the sun set. I am hoping we can ride over to Fairhope, Alabama and explore there one day. I’ve never been, but keep hearing about it. We will walk for exercise, and I will ride my bicycle a bit. We will likely worship at a local church on Sunday morning. Lord willing, it will be a time of relaxation and refreshment.

Things I will NOT be doing: lying on the beach, getting sunburned, and wading into the thick of the crowds at the outlets in Foley, AL. NOPE, not me.

Orange Beach is where we have gone on summer vacation in the past few years, but over the course of our married life we have been to San Francisco, the Ohio Amish Country (several times), and Panama City Beach. When we had our Harley, we rode the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Natchez Trace Trail and went to Bike Week at Myrtle Beach, SC.
