Just this week I began a book recommended to me by my friend, Michele. It is by A.W. Tozer, one of the giants of faith in Christ’s kingdom. The book is in two volumes and is entitled The Attributes of God: A Journey Into the Father’s Heart.  My, my, my, I am only a couple of chapters in and have discovered so much to ponder that I may never finish the 476 pages in Volume 1, much less get to Volume 2.

Christmas is right around the corner, so today’s post serves two purposes: 1) to share a quote from Tozer’s book with you that is so perfect for Christmas, and 2) to tell you that I will be taking a week or so away from my blog to enjoy family, friends, and rest.

Jesus’ incarnation, his coming to earth as a child and growing into a man, is what we celebrate at Christmas in spite of the retail world’s attempts to make us think we celebrate Santa’s arrival. The following thoughts from Tozer about Christ’s incarnation were some I had never considered. Ponder them with me:

“The incarnation, too, was not something that Jesus Christ did gritting His teeth and saying, ‘I hate this thing–I wish I could get out of it.’

“How could the everlasting, eternal, infinite God, whom space cannot contain, confine Himself inside one of His creatures? Wouldn’t it be a humiliation?

“The incarnation of Jesus Christ’s immortal flesh was not a heavy thing. The second person of the Trinity, the everlasting Son, the eternal Word made Himself flesh—joyously!”

Joyously! Jesus came to earth, not kicking and screaming, but joyful to be doing the will of the Father. What a thought!! What a reason to praise Him this Christmas!!

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for reading what the Lord gives me to write. Thank you for inviting me to speak at your luncheons, retreats, and other events. You bless me in so many ways…with your comments, your emails, your invitations, your words of encouragement. It is my prayer that you, my precious readers and friends, will have a blessed Christmas holiday. I will return here to the blog around the 1st of January–give or take a day or so.

Peace and Christmas blessings to you!!
