Recently a young woman shared with me that she told her husband that ‘2011 was going to be all about her’. I simply stared at her and shook my head. Then, as I left the grocery store a few days later, I saw a tag on the front of a car that said, “It’s all about ME”.
My immediate thought for both situations was “Oh, no. What a set-up for disaster.” Believe me, I know of what I speak, for in the past I lived as if it was ‘all about me’.
In the 47th chapter of the book of Isaiah, Babylon is depicted as saying, “I am, and there is none besides me.” What selfishness! What pride! Surely that kind of thing never happens in our world today.
Really? Think again. In essence, the young woman told her husband the very same thing. “I am, and there is none beside me. It is all going to be about me this year.”
The woman who aborts her unborn child says, “I am, and there is none besides me.” Her actions say that she is the only one who matters. Hmmm, what if that unborn child could talk?
The husband or wife who cheats on their spouse says, “I am, and there is none besides me.” Their actions speak loudly of their self-focus and selfishness.
As we think about LOVE at The Point this month, we must consider occasions in our lives when our actions, if not our words, say, “It’s all about me”. God will only allow His children to live in pride and selfishness for a season. When He has had enough of it, He does whatever is necessary to bring His child to the point where they will say:
“IT’S NOT ALL ABOUT ME!!”
What if Jesus’ motto had been
“It’s all about me”? Just saying………….
Does the LEGACY that you have built say “It’s All About Me?”
“It’s all about me”? Just saying………….
Does the LEGACY that you have built say “It’s All About Me?”
