Some of you may be saying, “Enough of the Israel pics, already!” Well, today is the final posting. I hope that you have enjoyed them and that they have whetted your appetite to walk in the Land where Jesus lived. It is truly an experience like no other.
The question that I am asked most often about going to Israel is, “Did you feel unsafe?” My answer is an emphatic NO! I feel more threatened in downtown Atlanta than I ever did in Israel. The IDF (Israeli Defense Force) is very present all over Jerusalem and never once did I feel unsafe. In fact, I am convinced that Israel may well be the safest place on earth. Why? God has said that He will defend her and He never breaks His promises. All throughout history nations have come against her, and even today nations are turning against Israel, yet Israel is God’s chosen people. God promised when He cut covenant with Abraham that He would bless those who bless Israel and He would curse those who curse Israel. I believe He meant it. So Iran and all the nations who seek to destroy her better mind their p’s and q’s!!!
Go to Israel if you ever get a chance. It is one way that you can bless Israel. Ok, ‘nuf of my Israel promo.
On our final day in Israel we did two things. We began the morning at the Garden Tomb. There are two places in Jerusalem where tradition says that Jesus was crucified and buried. One is at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and one is the Garden Tomb. My experience is that your heart will tell you which is the place and my heart says the Garden Tomb. So, those are the pics I share today.

As you can see in this picture the rock formation looks very much like a skull and tradition says that Jesus would have been crucified here. This location sits just outside the wall of the Old City and the Bible is clear that Jesus was crucified outside the city. Even today a graveyard sits atop this rock.

In this picture you see two of my dear friends, the Kights, exiting the EMPTY tomb.

I snapped this picture of Kristin standing just inside the entrance to the EMPTY tomb.

The second place we went on our last day in Jerusalem was to the Israel Museum where we saw the model city of Old Jerusalem. It is quite a site to behold. We also went into the Shrine of the Book where the Dead Sea Scrolls are displayed.

Just a block or so away from the Israel Museum you could see the Knesset Building. This is where the Israeli government does business…kinda like the Capitol in Washington, DC.

This picture shows the two men who put up with us for 10 days. On the left is our bus driver. He did not look more than 16 years old but swore that he was 25. Honestly, he maneuvered that bus through some places where there was not more than two hairs width between us and another bus or car. AMAZING. The man on the right was our guide. He was AMAZING as well!  Thanks so much guys!!!

We also went to Yad Vashem. Yad Vashem is the Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem. NO WORDS! There are just no words to describe the atrocities that took place all those decades ago and are recounted in that place.

I spent four hours at Yad Vashem four years ago when I was in Israel and came away emotionally spent. We had a couple of hours there on this trip and the entire time I walked through I kept thinking, “How in the world does a person/people become so depraved that they have NO regard for human life? How does it happen?”

I watched a video showing U.S. and Allied soldiers using bulldozers to push bodies into mass graves. REAL BODIES! Dead Jewish human beings who had been needlessly slaughtered by a madman seeking to cleanse the human race!  What in the world?!? God help us!! God help us!!

One of the most touching parts of Yad Vashem is the children’s memorial. You walk into a dark, circular room where mirrors line the walls. In the center of the room a glass column rises that reflects candles everywhere. A voice reads the names and ages of the more than 1 million children murdered in the Holocaust. SLAYS ME! Just slays me to think about it!

A quote that still is burned into my memory from my first time at Yad Vashem haunts me as our nation goes further and further away from God. It said, “Whatever a nation permits is what that nation will become.”

God in heaven, please forgive us for what we permit each and every day. Please turn us from our putrid sin and toward you. God help us! God help America.

I love this piece of art in the gardens at Yad Vashem. It depicts God the Father holding emaciated Jews in His strong and loving arms. Even now I tear up looking at it.

Thank you for taking time to ‘tour’ Israel with me. I’ll be back soon with something that the Lord has placed on my heart. Have a blessed Thanksgiving, my friends.
