I am so glad you are joining me in this prayer effort for the church. I hope you were able to view the video above where I explain what has gotten me all stirred up about praying for the church. God has promised to hear the prayers of His people. Today I encourage you to pray that God would raise up champions in the church like Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Champions who are willing to stake their lives on doing what is righteous and godly, regardless of the cost. YOU just might be one of those champions.

Here is an excerpt from Bonhoeffer by Eric Metaxas that is pertinent to our prayer focus for the day. This is a quote from a Pastor Niemoller who was a German pastor in Bonhoeffer’s day. He turned a blind eye to the atrocities that Hitler was perpetrating in spite of the warnings given by Bonhoeffer and others. He was imprisoned for 8 years in a concentration camp as the personal prisoner of Adolf Hitler when he wrote:

For our Saturday and Sunday HSPT prayer effort, please choose two of the prayer topics that we have focused on this week and spend additional time in prayer over those OR simply pray whatever the Holy Spirit lays on your heart for the church this weekend. I’ll see you back here on Monday.
