Hello friends! In case you missed last week’s Heart Notes post….there wasn’t one. My family and I were on vacation! Because I am just now getting back into the swing of the post-vacation work day, today’s Heart Notes post will be brief. Very brief. I’ll be back at it next week with a regular Heart Notes post.

First, I want to offer you the FREE August printable so you can download and print it.

August

As we move into August, I want us to be reminded of what we are doing in these Monday Heart Notes posts. Friends, we are not just wasting time. I am not just writing these posts for the sheer pleasure of doing so, nor do I write in hopes of ‘making it big’, whatever that means. NO! I write these posts so that you and I will have a reminder of our need to hide God’s Word in our hearts.

You might ask, “Why should we hide God’s Word in our hearts? Why not hide Dante’s Inferno or Gone With The Wind or any other book’s words in our hearts? Why the words in the Bible?”

Hebrews 4:12 is why.

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12 (NAS)

Why? Because God’s Word, the Scriptures, are not just words on a page. They are the very breath of God, the words straight out of the heart of God breathed toward us. They are His conversation with us. They are His love letter to us. These Words are God’s heart for us. And they have power to change lives.

I am not trying to pull a fast one over on you. I know this to be true. I know how I was before I began intently studying Scripture, and I know how different I am now. Even my husband has said so.

God’s Word changes hearts and lives.

I challenge you to try it for 4 weeks. Position your heart before the Lord and ask Him to teach you from His Word. Ask Him to give you a heart that desires to hear from Him. For 4 weeks, I double dog dare you to dig deeply into Scripture, either on your own or using an in-depth Bible study. I happen to have a few suggestions. Here are the links:

From the Trash Pile to the Treasure Chest: Creating a Godly Legacy by Yours Truly

HeBrews: A Better Blend by Yours Truly

DIVE Deeper by Jenifer Jernigan

Believing God by Beth Moore

Discerning the Voice of God by Priscilla Shirer

Dig deeply each day for 4 weeks and see if you don’t see changes in your heart and life. You will. I promise.
