As we approach the end of 2014, I have chosen 4 verses for our final weeks of Heart Notes that I believe are foundational. I hope you will commit to memorizing these verses. Tuck them away in your heart, and I promise, one day you will pull them out in a time of need.
In case you missed the FREE December printable, here is the link to it, once again.
Let’s take a look at two of our December verses, then I want to focus in on just the first one today.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)
Let’s re-read verse 6 once more:
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6 (NIV)
There is so much expounding I could do on this verse, but I think today, I will simply ask you four questions:
- What is causing anxiety in your heart today?
- Have you prayed about it? I don’t mean a few words flung into the heavens in order to be able to say you prayed. I mean, have you laid your heart bare before God over it?
- Are you not just praying about it, but thanking God in the midst of it? For His presence in it, His omniscience about it, His power in it?
- Are you willing to trust God’s heart for the outcome of this angst-provoking situation?
Next Monday we will learn what happens when we trust God with our anxieties. For now, please consider these questions before the Lord. I hope you will join me back here.
