God is Pro-Choice.

It’s your life and He is all about giving you the choice of what to do with it.

Now, before you write me an email or letter about how God hates abortion, hold your horses and allow me the opportunity to finish my point. I believe, with all my heart, that abortion is wrong and it breaks God’s heart. THIS POST IS NOT ABOUT ABORTION.

Recently I sat at a funeral of a man who had chosen to end his life. I don’t the whys of the situation. I only know he apparently felt he had had all he could take and death was better than living. This is when the thought came to me that God is pro-choice. God could have stopped this man from taking his life, but He didn’t. He honored the choice the man made.

Let’s take a short stroll through the Scriptures so I can attempt to prove my hypothesis. We have only to read a few sentences into the second chapter of Genesis before we find God taking a pro-choice stance.

7 And the LORD God formed a man’s body from the dust of the ground and breathed into it the breath of life. And the man became a living person. 8 Then the LORD God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there he placed the man he had created. 9 And the LORD God planted all sorts of trees in the garden — beautiful trees that produced delicious fruit. At the center of the garden he placed the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Here we have two key players, God and man. God, the Creator and man, the created. We also have a garden full of trees, two of them very significant. The tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Let’s move on.

16 But the LORD God gave him this warning: “You may freely eat any fruit in the garden 17 except fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat of its fruit, you will surely die.”

Here is where we see God allowing His pro-choice stance to peek through. God explicitly told the man that he was free to CHOOSE any fruit in the garden for his nourishment except the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The next word is key. ‘IF’. A teeny, tiny two-letter word that screams pro-choice.

‘If you eat.’ Within that two letter word lay choice for man. He could choose to gorge himself on anything and everything else in the garden and live, OR he could choose to eat the forbidden fruit and see if God was serious about this death thing. We all know how that turned out. We are paying the price for Adam’s choice today.

All throughout the Scriptures God’s pro-choice stance is evident. He told the Israelites they could choose blessings or curses. Obedience brings blessing. Disobedience brings curses.

“It’s your choice, fellas. I’ll abide by what you decide, but just know the consequences of disobedience won’t be pleasant.” ~~ God

God did not create puppets. He created humans with a will and a choice.

Moses had a choice of whether to follow God’s instructions about crossing the Red Sea. Obedience brought safety. Disobedience would have meant certain death. He chose wisely.

King David had the choice to sleep with Bathsheba or not. Not would have been the right choice, but God allowed David to decide. The consequences of his poor choice were painful.

Judas had a choice of whether to be faithful to Jesus or betray Him. Jesus knew what Judas was up to, yet He still allowed Judas to make the choice. As soon as the choice was made, Judas knew he had chosen poorly. He ended his own life because of his choice.

God is pro-choice where you are concerned. Have you admitted your inability to make it to heaven on your own? Have you asked Jesus to forgive you of your sin, be your Lord and take you to heaven when you die?

Yes! Great. You made a good choice in accepting Jesus’ payment for your sin and God will honor your choice. When you leave this earth, you will immediately be in God’s presence.

No? God will honor your choice as well, because He is pro-choice. However, I fear you will not like the consequences.

Consider Matthew 10: 32-33 (NLT):

32 “If anyone acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will openly acknowledge that person before my Father in heaven. 33 But if anyone denies me here on earth, I will deny that person before my Father in heaven.

There’s Jesus being all pro-choice again. Do you see the ‘IF’ in both verses? When you choose NOT to choose Jesus, you are choosing hell. How do I know that? Heaven is where God lives, so if Jesus denies you before God in heaven, you will not be hanging out in heaven. The only other option is hell and you, my friend, will be hell-bound because of your choice.

And it is your choice. God does not send anyone to hell. If He had His way, we would all live in heaven with Him forever, but because He is pro-choice, He has to honor the choice each of us makes.

Choose Jesus ~ Heaven

Reject Jesus ~ Hell

It really is pretty simple and because God is PRO-CHOICE, it’s your choice. My prayer is that you will choose Jesus. If you do not know how to make that choice or if you would like more information on how to make the choice for Jesus, please email me at [email protected]. It would be my honor to introduce you to Jesus.
