I love how the Word of God is living and active. Just this weekend, I was reminded of the work of the Word while reading a VERY familiar passage. I don’t know about you, but sometimes I can be so familiar with a passage that I gloss over it, failing to allow it to speak to me.
As I was scribing Hebrews 10: 17 into my Journible on Sunday morning, the power and preciousness of what this verse means was like an arrow shot right into the bulls-eye of my heart. It all begins in Revelation 20.
While I have many successes in my faith walk, I also have quite a number of spiritual fails. Perhaps you do, as well. Spiritual fail = sin.
In Revelation 20: 11-12 (NKJV)Â we are told that one day there will be a judgment of those who rejected Jesus as Lord.
Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.
One day Jesus will return to earth to set up His Kingdom. When this happens it will be Judgment Day for all who rejected Jesus. All those who decided they could do life on their own and didn’t need Jesus will find their every deed recorded when they stand before God to receive the punishment they are due. For those who accept Jesus, Judgment Day has no power over them because their names are written in the Book of Life.
STAND. BEFORE. GOD.
Can you even imagine? We stand before ministers when we get married. We stand before judges when we serve on juries. We stand before policemen when we get caught for speeding. That is all child’s play compared to standing before the One who created the heavens and the earth, and has the power and authority to send you to an eternal hell as a result of the choice you made to reject Jesus. That’s a big deal!
But, for the believer in Jesus Christ, Hebrews 10: 17 (NKJV)Â is precious.
Then he adds, “ Their sins and lawless deeds I will remember no more.”
Really, that should send us to our knees.
The simple act of accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior will make all the difference in the end. Those who reject Jesus will stand before a holy, righteous God and have their every sin held against them, dooming them to eternal punishment. While those who accept Jesus will have that same holy and righteous God say, “Sin? What sin? Jesus took care of that. Now, join me in heaven forever.”
It’s your choice. God wants you to choose Jesus. I want you to choose Jesus. Just do it!
