Over the next few months, I would like to offer you short excerpts from the Bible study that the Lord and I have written. (He dictated and I typed!!!) My Tuesday morning group of ladies just completed the study and they gave me some incredible feedback. I am so excited that in just a few months the work that the Lord and I did will lie before me in published form. I pray that the Holy Spirit will use it to speak to women of all ages and stages about the need to be attentive to the legacy that they are leaving for the generations that come behind us. Perhaps He will use it in the lives of some of you.
FROM THE TRASH PILE TO THE TREASURE CHEST: Creating A Godly Legacy
Excerpt 1 from Week 1, Day 1
“As I begin to write, I ponder on the people who will one day sit with this Bible study before them and I wonder a few things about them- about you. I wonder what brings you to this Bible study. Why are you interested in a Bible study about creating a godly legacy? What season of life are you in? Are you a young mom who has suddenly realized that she is setting an example for those little ones who cling to her legs? Perhaps you are a single who desires to stand out above the crowd of ‘everyone is doing it’? You might be a grandparent who recognizes that time is flying by and you have fewer and fewer days in which to make a significant difference in your family? Maybe you are someone whose heart has been so battered and bruised by circumstances or the words or actions of others that you cannot imagine ever being at the point where your life makes a difference for the cause of Christ. Perhaps you are someone like me, who spent a significant part of their life pitching their tent in a pit of sin and rebellion, pushing away the Jesus who gave His all for you. Do you sense that the Lord is bringing you to the point of understanding that it is crucial for the next part of your life to be dedicated to something other than yourself?
—————————————————————————————
“Whatever brings you to this study, I welcome you and I invite you to jump in wholeheartedly, holding nothing back. Allow the fresh wind of the Holy Spirit to bring you to a place of complete submission to the work of Christ in your life. In order for you to leave the legacy that Christ desires, you must be willing to give Him free reign of your heart and mind. You and I must be obedient to Romans 12: 1 where Paul encourages us to offer our bodies as living sacrifices. If there is junk that needs to be cleaned out, COOPERATE with Him. It is only by truly offering Him all of you, mind and body, to work with that your legacy will be the masterpiece that He knows is possible.”
Your legacy…..what will those who come behind you remember about you?
