Easter. I like to call it Resurrection Day because that is the reason we celebrate. This week as we prepare to celebrate Resurrection Day next Sunday, the Holy Spirit is prompting me to view this most important of holidays through the lens of one of the most well known passages in all of Scripture. 1 Corinthians 13. The Love Chapter.
Easter is all about love. The LOVE of the Father and the Son for fallen man. The LOVE that prompted a ridiculous sacrifice. Yes, I said ridiculous, because in truth, that is what it is. One man gave his life for the whole world….for every man, woman, boy and girl who would dare to believe and receive His gift. Who would ever have come up with such a plan? Only God.
So, each day this week, I invite you to join me as we glimpse the sacrifice of Jesus and the incredible resurrection through the lens of LOVE. My commentary will be brief or nonexistent. My desire is to allow Scripture to teach and bless.
PALM SUNDAY – Love is patient…. 1 Corinthians 13:4.
Jesus answered, “You people have no faith. How long must I stay with you? How long must I put up with you?” Mark 9:19 (NIV)
I’m sure Jesus has looked at me an untold number of times and said, “Leah, you have no faith. How long must I put up with you?”
But He does put up with me. He is patient with me when I can’t seem to get it together; when my faith falters. He is patient.
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9 (NIV)
Do you know my Jesus? If not, He is patiently waiting for you. He wants you to ask Him to come into your heart. He desires that Resurrection Day become personal to you.
