This past week, the Lord has used several quotes to cause me to stop and ponder my relationship with Him and how effective I am in the world. I wanted to share them with you in hope that they will stimulate reflection and meditation in your heart as well. I imagine the Holy Spirit will lead me to write on at least one of these later, but for now let’s simply meditate on what the Lord could be trying to say to us. I encourage you to read these slowly and reflectively:
“Have you seen God work lately? How long has it been since you really knew that you were being held in His arms? Heard His voice? Watched Him answer your prayers? Are you able to trace His hand across the events of your days? Or do you feel blind to God? One time I heard a woman ask, ‘If the Holy Spirit decided to leave you, how long would it take you to realize that He was gone?'” – Angela Thomas from A Beautiful Offering
“Salt makes you thirsty. Do you make anyone thirsty for Jesus? Do people want more of God because of what they have seen and heard in Me? Our responsibility (as salt) is to make men and women thirsty (for God) because of our lives and then point them to Jesus Christ. His responsibility is to satisfy the thirst.” – Angela Thomas from A Beautiful Offering
“The crowning attribute of Christ was this: his heart was spiritual. His thoughts reflected his intimate relationship with the Father…..Jesus took his instructions from God. It was his habit to go to worship. It was his practice to memorize Scripture…..His times of prayer guided him. He once returned from prayer and announced it was time to move to another city. Another time of prayer resulted in the selection of the disciples. Jesus was led by an unseen hand…..The heart of Jesus was spiritual.” – Max Lucado from Just Like Jesus
