Welcome to Week 7 of

The Loft ~ A Wednesday Link-Up!

Come on up!!

#TheLoft

You will find my Week 7 post and the linky tool near the bottom, but first, before we get started, may I remind you how The Loft Link-Up works?

The Loft is a place for conversation, community, networking, and Christian growth.

Each week we provide a topic to start the conversation. Then, Wednesday morning at 5am EST, the link goes live, and for 6 glorious days you can link up your post on that week’s topic. The linky will close at 5pm EST on Monday. Please make sure the post you link-up pertains to the chosen topic of the week.

To Participate:

1. Be creative. Feel free to use words, photos, video, audio, your family pet, whatever, to communicate on the weekly topic.

2. Listen twice as much. If you leave one link, visit two.

3. Be a community. Include #TheLoft graphic and/or hashtag in your post and social media so we can find each other.

4. Write like Jesus would write. We are a Christian link-up. Offensive or inappropriate posts will be deleted. No questions asked.

5. Be pertinent. Our heart is to build community and intimacy, and our means to do that is to build each link-up around a single topic. Please make sure your post is on topic.

When you link up at The Loft, your link will appear on three blogs! We’d love for you to visit The Loft co-hosts and know who we are:

Today’s Topic (July 15th): A Word Prompt ~ Our word prompt for today is LEGACY.

As you know, the topic of LEGACY is one that is very near and dear to my heart. I wrote a Bible study on the topic. Check it out here, if you have not.

For the Christian, our legacy is informed and infused by our faith in Jesus Christ. In fact, to leave a godly legacy, we must begin with Jesus. Making a decision to ask Jesus to be your Lord and Savior is THE MOST IMPORTANT decision you will ever make. It is at that point that you can begin building a godly legacy.

With that said, I want to dream a bit with you. Let’s assume that we are standing next to Jesus in heaven. We have finished the race of life, and we have changed our address to Heaven Street. Jesus offers us a moment to listen in to the conversations on earth that have to do with us. People are talking about us, which really means they are talking about the legacy we left behind. What are they saying? What legacy did you leave behind? What is my legacy? What portraits of your legacy will be hung in God’s Hall of Faith one day?

Here are some of the portraits that I hope will be painted for my legacy:

  • She loved Jesus…a lot.
  • She loved the Bible….a lot.
  • She was a good daughter. She never gave her parents any trouble. She honored them and loved them.
  • Her heart was huge for helping women know Jesus and love Him more.
  • She was a controller, and that brought her some seasons of pain. Yep, there will be things that I am not happy about, but that is the complete picture.
  • She was generous, and was a good manager of her earthly possessions.
  • She sometimes let her tongue get her in trouble, but her heart really wanted to be a wise woman with her words.
  • She followed the leading of the Lord when she wrote her two Bible studies, Legacy and HeBrews.
  • She was grateful for the blessings she had been given.
  • In the early years, she did not always follow Jesus well, and experienced great regret over those seasons.
  • She was well aware of the grace and mercy that had been poured out on her, and lived with a thankful heart for it.

These are a few of the portraits of my legacy that I hope will be hung in the hall of faith one day when I breathe earth’s dusty air no more. What about you? What are some of the portraits of your legacy that you hope will be hung for the generations that come behind you? Share them in the comments.

Next Week’s Topic (July 22nd): Favorite Summer Recipes ~ (when our Loft friend, Jan, tossed out some of her favorite summer recipes in our recent pot luck post, it prompted today’s prompt. what are your favorite recipes to make in the summer? main dishes, appetizers, desserts, veggies, snacks. share one or a dozen.)

I hope you will plan to join us each week at The Loft.

Now, it is time to link-up!!
