The Loft is open, come on up!

Today at The Loft we are talking about family Christmas traditions.

In my family, Christmas has always been a pretty low-key affair. Today, I’ll share a couple of things that my family does during the Christmas holiday.

For many years my family of origin have gathered together for Christmas breakfast. Although we began the tradition at my parents home, in the past 12 or so years we have gathered at my sister and brother-in-law’s home so their boys could stay home and enjoy their Christmas haul. We always partake of a big country breakfast cooked by Leslie and Robert. Eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy, and all the fixings. After breakfast, the boys open the gifts that the rest of the family brought them. There is always lots of laughter and fun.

This year will be bittersweet with the recent passing of our Mother. Still, I hope we will gather and celebrate family and the birth of Jesus.

In more recent years, I have been involved in the Christmas Eve service at our church. This has become my very favorite part of Christmas. The service is a candlelight one hosted by the ladies of our church. It is simple and lovely, with an atmosphere of worship and adoration of our Lord. My heart is blessed each year by the service.

I had never been to a Christmas Eve service until about 6 years ago. Now, I am smitten. If your church does not offer a Christmas Eve service, do find one in your community. You will be blessed! If you live in the North Georgia area, I invite you to worship with us on Christmas Eve at First Baptist Church in Blairsville. The services are held in the Rock Chapel at 5pm and 7pm. Dress is casual, and all are welcome. For more information, please email me at [email protected] or call the church at 706 745 2469.

I’m eager to read about your Christmas traditions. Please link up your post with us here at #TheLoft.

We will be taking the next two weeks off from The Loft in order to celebrate Christmas and New Years with our families without writing deadlines. Please join us on January 6th when we will gather again and share our ‘one word’ or ‘verse’ that will be our focus for 2015.

Now, it’s time to link up!

About #TheLoft

The Loft is the place for conversation, community, networking, and Christian growth.

Each week we provide a topic to start the conversation.

While there are many link and leave blog hops out there, we are different in that we ask that your link stick to the weekly topic. This fosters community and conversation. It also helps us practice “topic” writing as bloggers. Please mention The Loft in your post so we can find each other. Thank you so much!

Monday night, at 9pm Eastern, the linky goes live and all week you can link up your post on that week’s topic.

We’ll have fun topics, serious topics, practical, soul-ful, holiday, and so, so much more…we can’t wait to get started! This is not only a great way to connect with others, it’s also a fun and easy way to establish a writing habit. If you aren’t a blogger, you are welcome to join in by leaving your comments in the comment section.

So grab your coffee mug and come on up! Hang out for a bit. We betcha you’ll be glad you did.

To Participate:

1. Be creative. Feel free to use words, photos, video, audio, your family pet, whatever, to communicate on the weekly topic. But please stick to the weekly topic 🙂

2. Listen twice as much as you talk. If you leave one link, visit two. Trust us on this one~wink.

3. Be a community. Include #TheLoft graphic and/or link back in your post so we can find and share with each other. Also, share the great stuff you find when you visit around…we’ll be doing the same.

When you link up at The Loft, your link will appear on 3 blogs! We’d love for you to visit The Loft co-hosts and know who we are: Rebekah, Leah, Arabah
