Welcome to New Word Wednesday!! Not sure if you realized it, but I’m trying to go in alphabetical order with our new words. I tried very hard to find a word beginning with ‘E’ that also pertained to ‘love’. There was one….but I decided not to go that route.
Today’s New Word is a one that I have never quite understood the meaning of….probably because I never looked it up. I had a good idea what it meant but now I know for certain and could use the word with confidence if the situation arose. Our New Word is……..
Expatriate: ek-‘spa-tre-ate – to leave one’s own country; to withdraw (oneself) from residence in or allegiance to one’s native country; to leave one’s native country to live elsewhere; to renounce allegiance to one’s native country.
USAGE: Recently we had dinner with an Iraqi expatriate who now lives in New York.
