{#186} – Teaching – On Monday, I began teaching a 4 week series entitled Vital Signs: Lessons from the Seven Churches of The Revelation at my church. I love teaching and I love teaching the Scriptures. I count it an honor and a ginormous blessing to be able to teach this series on Monday nights in July.
{#187} – Lipstick – In this edition of Friday blessings, I told you that my longtime favorite lipstick had been discontinued and how I planned to try out a company that does custom color matching, Three Custom Color Specialists. Well, I did and I am so pleased with the result!! Here are two pictures: the first where I am wearing my discontinued shade of lipstick and the second where I wear the custom blended color from Three Custom Color. What do you think? It’s the little things that make up big blessings, friends.

{#188} – Lunch – A couple of weeks ago, Greg, Bree and I invited our new worship leader at FBC Blairsville Mike Medori and his girlfriend, Rebecca Hood, and two other Young Harris College students, Leah (she has a great name!!) Cheshier and Stephanie Mills, to our home for lunch after church. After lunch, we sat for 2 hours talking and sharing, crying and laughing, and just generally having an awesome time. May I just tell you that I was so encouraged? So often all we see are the ugly behaviors of young people because that is what the media like to report. Let me assure you that if these young people are any indication, all is not lost. This group is vibrant in their faith, bold in their witness, and eager to step out into a world that so desperately needs Jesus. Peeps, I filled their stomachs, but they filled my heart! I love them so much.

{#189} – Birthday – Saturday was the birthday of my BFF, Cindy. She is 39—again. Well, for that matter, so am I!!! Cindy is one of God’s most wonderful blessings to me. Over the years, we have laughed until our sides hurt, cried together, ridden camels in Egypt, worshipped at the empty tomb, shopped, eaten, studied the Scriptures, and vacationed together. I am so blessed to have her in my life and I thank God for bringing us together.

{#190} – Well run race – Last weekend I attended the visitations of two people who impacted my life as a child and teen. One was my former middle school principal, Mr. Elmer Thompson. Mr. Thompson, 85, was a kind and gentle man who always seemed to truly care for his students. The thing I remember best about him was his smile. The other significant person is Mrs. Joyce Henson. Joyce was the epitome of a godly woman. She endured much suffering in her life, yet remained faithful to Christ. Joyce was my church Acteen leader when I was a teen. Her heart for missions and for Jesus impacted me greatly. She left a wonderful legacy for her family and friends. Heaven is richer today for the presence of these two saints, but earth surely will miss them.
{#191} – Fresh squash – We have partaken of the first squash from our little garden. Last week I baked zucchini, yellow squash, and onions. Oh sweet mercy! They were so good. This week I have canned squash and squash pickles. Really, the best thing about summer is the fresh vegetables and canning!
{#192} – Choices – On Saturday evening I asked Greg what he wanted for dinner and gave him several choices. He said, “I’m just grateful to have choices. Millions of people around the world would give anything to have even one of the choices we have.” Yep, I’m blessed to have ample food on the table and in my pantry.
{#193} – Rain – I am trying really hard not to complain about the rain…the endless rain that we have had here in the south. I am not sure I remember a stretch of rain like we have experienced. Usually July brings hot temps and parched land. Not this year. I’m feeling like we have yet to even reach 90 degrees, which I love since I am not a fan of hot weather. The flowers and grass love all the rain. My hydrangeas are the most beautiful they have ever been.
{#194} – Sunshine – I will have to say that on Monday of this week, we SAW THE SUN for the first time in at least a week. It was glorious!! You could almost see the moods of people inflating like a hot air balloon as the sun came out. I’m not contradicting #193. I love the sun….I just don’t love the 90+ degree temps that usually come with the summer sun.
{#195} – Fresh, clean drinking water – Y’all, millions around the world do not have access to clean drinking water. I take my ample supply for granted in huge ways and that is just wrong. I am blessed and thankful to be able to have fresh water to drink any time I desire it.
{#196} – Dog wants a kitty video – Have you ever run across something that just made you laugh outloud? AND the more you watched it or read it, the funnier it got? Well, this video is that kind of thing for me. I have laughed and laughed at it. Greg doesn’t think it is nearly as funny as I do, but hey, I’m a simple-minded girl. It doesn’t take much to amuse me.
