I am not sure how much blogging will be done here for the next couple of weeks. I’ve got company coming and then I begin preparations for our big New Year’s Day Beans ‘N Greens luncheon. So, I’ll probably be kinda scare in the blog world until January. BUT…….

I wanted to invite you to particpate in a challenge that I have put out to the ladies in my Sunday school class…the Heart & Soul Class at FBC Blairsville. We are cleaning out our thought closets with Jennifer Rothschild’s study “Me, Myself & Lies” and I wanted to make sure they had pure thoughts with which to replace the old ones. So, I have issued them a challenge exactly like Beth Moore did to all her blog readers for 2009 (yes, I am a copycat, but don’t fix what ain’t broke!!)…it is a challenge to memorize Scripture in 2010. I am calling it Challenge 2010 and we would love for you to join us.

Here are the rules and they will be very familiar to some of you:

We will seek to memorize two Bible verses…TWO VERSES….each month. Almost anyone can memorize TWO VERSES in a month’s time!! Choose “Jesus wept” to get you started January 1st, for heaven’s sake!!

On the 1st day of each month, I will post my verse, where it is found, and which translation of the Bible it is from. You will leave a comment telling us what verse you are going to be memorizing for the first 14 days of the month. Your comment needs to include the complete verse, the reference, the translation, your name and where you are from. We will work on memorizing that verse for 14 days.

On the 15th of each month we will choose another verse and go through the same process, working on memorizing that verse until the end of the month. At the end of 2010, we will have 24, count them TWENTY FOUR new Bible verses memorized. I’ve done it this year and it feels so good to have that Word hidden in my heart. So good!!

There are a zillion different ways to make this work for you…choose one and use it. I put my verses in a spiral notecard thingy and carry them with me. I also print off about four copies of the verse, cut them up and tape one to my computer screen, one on my kitchen cabinet, one in my bathroom near my mirror, and one in my car. That way I have it with me and can simply glance at it and work on my memory work almost anywhere I find myself. That may not work well for you. Find what works for you and do it. DO NOT let yourself get side tracked with the how-to details!! Doing this is far more important than how you do it.

So, if you would like to take Challenge 2010, leave a comment on this post letting us all know who will be joining in the fun (and the hard work, cuz anything worth doing is worth working hard to do!!) I promise, you will not regret it.

If you do not have a Blogger ID, don’t worry. Just use the ‘anonymous’ feature to leave your verse, but don’t forget to give us your name and location.

Have a Merry Christmas!!
