{#72} – Discovering there are others like me – A week ago last Monday I read this post by Mary DeMuth. I sat slack-jawed as I read it. The description of an ‘achiever’ is ME. It is like the voices in my head wrote that. Although some of it is not good, it is good to know I’m not alone. There are others like me out there.
{#73} – Spring veggies ready for planting – I am waiting for the weather to warm up enough so I can put these beauties in the ground. Red and Green Leaf Lettuce, Collards, and Broccoli.
{#74} – Finding my lost iPhone – I lost my iPhone for about half an hour while Greg and I were in Atlanta. Sweet biscuits, I was in a full-on panic because my whole life is on that device. Thank you, Lord, for locating apps.
{#75} – Spending time with my father-in-law – My mother-in-law had surgery a couple of weeks ago. I went to the hospital and sat with my father-in-law while she was in surgery. I have the best in-laws in the whole world and I love them dearly.
{#76} – Hostas peeking out from beneath the ground
{#77} – Precious cards and letters from local ladies who just finished doing my Legacy study – What encouragement to hear how Legacy ministered and taught them. I was beyond humbled.
{#78} – Surprise visit – On Good Friday, our son, Charlie, his girlfriend, Sarah, and a friend from college, Garret, showed up at our home. We had not gotten to see Charlie over spring break because he was doing mission work with a team from his college. So, he decided since they were off school on Good Friday, they would drive ten hours on Thursday night and visit us and Charlie’s mom, who lives in Birmingham, Alabama. It was a super short visit (less than 24 hours), but it was great to see them nonetheless.
{#79} – Important conversations – Twice this week I had opportunity to have conversations with young adults regarding the current gay marriage issue before the US Supreme Court. It is SO important for Christians to know what they believe, why they believe it, and be prepared to stand solidly on that belief in spite of any persecution that might result. Both of these young adults believe gay marriages should be legitimized, while I am whole-heartedly against it. I am against gay marriage because it is not what God intended for marriage or the family. In the end, it is important that my friends who support gay marriage feel I heard them and still love them in spite of the fact that we differ on the subject. This hearing and loving in spite of differences is one place the church of Jesus Christ has earned a big old FAIL with many issues. Just saying………
{#80} – RESURRECTION DAY!!!!!!!! – My most favorite of holidays. The reason for our hope. A day of celebrating life and new beginnings. Jesus lives! The tomb is empty! Praise God!!!
{#81} – Family – On Easter I had my family together around the table. My mom, my sister and her family, Greg, Bree, and me. What a sweet time!! Thank you, Lord! We also visited with Greg’s parents in the afternoon. His mom is recovering from surgery and is doing great!!!
{#82} – A word from The Word – I mess up so often. I mean OFTEN. As I sat before the Word this week, He spoke to my heart with Jeremiah 18:4. This is the story of Jeremiah watching the potter mold a piece of clay. In verse 4 we read: “And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make.” (NKJV) Did you get that? The clay had a second chance because the potter chose, not to discard it, but to make it again. That is what God is doing with me. Making me again into another vessel. He is removing the marred places and making me into something new. What a word!!
{#83} – A ceremony – On Wednesday evening, Greg and I were privileged to sit in the Susan B. Harris Chapel (where we were married) on the campus of Young Harris College and watch our friend Bree, be inducted into Alpha Chi, a national honor society for the top 10% of students. We are so proud of her accomplishments at Young Harris and feel blessed beyond measure that the Lord ordained our friendship.
{#84} – Lunch with friends – On Thursday, Greg and I met our friends, Rick and Sherry Groover, for lunch. The Groovers lived in Blairsville previously, but moved back to the Atlanta area a couple of years ago. We don’t see them very often, so it was a blessing to spend some time with them over lunch.
{#85} – My cards at Lifeway – Sherry and I went into the Lifeway store at the Mall of Georgia after lunch on Thursday. She immediately went to the boxed card aisle to see if she saw my cards on the shelf. Lo and behold! Look what we found right there on the shelf. What a blessing to me to see the cards on sale at Lifeway. Thanks Warner Press for allowing me the opportunity to touch lives in a very unique way.
{#86} – Sweats and wool socks – Yesterday was April 4th and I wore a sweater and boots to Atlanta. When I got home the temperature here at our house was in the high 30’s so I immediately changed into sweat pants and a sweatshirt. IN APRIL!!! I love warm, comfy clothes in cold weather. Last year at this time we were having temperatures in the 80s. Weird weather this year.
What blessings can you count with me today?
