Hello!!

Before I get to today’s Loft link-up post, I wanted to announce that the Fall Session of Tasting Grace is now open for registration.

In the Summer sessions, eight ladies learned to make homemade biscuits. We had a blast, and now it is time for the Fall Session. On Saturday, October 3rd I will host two sessions of Tasting Grace. There will be a 10am and a 2pm session. We will open with a short devotional, then head into the kitchen to make Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup, Cornbread, and Cheesy Apple Cobbler. Each session can accomodate 7 ladies. Cost to participate is $7. If you would like to sign up, please either use the contact form on my website or email me at [email protected].

Here is a link to the Tasting Grace page on my website where you can read more about the event and see pictures from past sessions.

Blog.

In early 2007 I had never heard of the word, but it is our topic today at The Loft.

When my Daddy was diagnosed with cancer in 2002, I began writing a weekly email update on his condition to send out to friends and family. In each update, I included a very short devotional message. Over the next two years, the distribution list grew and grew until it had over 100 people on it. This is the point at which I learned a new word….SPAM.

Who knew that spam was more than canned meat? Now that my distribution list was attracting the attention, in not such a good way, of ISPs, I discovered that many people on the list were not receiving the update. Their ISP was sending my email packing into the spam/junk/quarantine folders.

In early April, 2007 I went to the gym to work out one morning. As I got on the instrument of torture, otherwise known as the elliptical, I opened a Citizen magazine and began to read about a new form of digital communication that was taking the world by storm. It was called a BLOG, which was short for web log. A sort of digital diary for all the world to read. The more I read, the more I knew that God was calling me to begin a blog for the purpose of sharing and applying Scripture.

I had no clue what I was doing, but managed to stumble through and on April 30, 2007, I published my first blog post. It looked nothing like my blog of today. I used the Blogger platform with a pre-made design. No graphics, no links, just words. I’ve come a long way in my blogging journey, but I know that God led me to blogging.

I have met some amazing people through blogging, and had the privilege of meeting more than a few face-to-face. I’ve been encouraged in my walk with Jesus, and hope that I have encouraged a few hearts along the way. Because of my blog writing, I’ve had the privilege of publishing three books, with great hope of a couple more in the coming years. From day to day, I have no idea where my writing goes or how many hearts are touched. I know from Google Analytics that my writing is seen around the globe, and that humbles me more than I can express.

I do not know what God’s plans are for the blog next week or next year, but for now, I am staying faithful to the last word I heard from God on the subject of blogging. I’ll be here on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I hope you will be, as well.

To Participate:

1. Be creative. We provide the topic. You feel free to use words, photos, video, audio, your family pet, whatever, to communicate on the weekly topic.

2. Listen twice as much. If you leave one link, visit two.

3. Be a community. Include #TheLoft graphic and/or hashtag in your post and social media so we can find each other.

4. Write like Jesus would write. We are a Christian link-up. Offensive or inappropriate posts will be deleted. No questions asked.

5. Be pertinent. Our heart is to build community and intimacy, and our means to do that is to build each link-up around a single topic. Please make sure your post is on topic.

6. Link-Up. Each Wednesday morning at 5am EST, the link goes live, and for 6 glorious days you can link up your post on that week’s topic. The linky will close at 5pm EST on Monday.

This Week’s Topic: Blogging and You ~ (when did you begin blogging? why did you begin blogging? what have you learned through blogging? how has blogging been a blessing to you?)

Next Week’s (September 16) Topic: Choose a Verse ~ (choose any verse in the Bible and write about it. what it means to you, how God has used it in your life, a picture, a video, a poem…anything pertaining to that verse.)

I hope you will plan to join us each week at The Loft Link-Up.

Now, it is time to link-up!!
