One of the prayer disciplines I need work on is being more thankful. It is so easy to run to God, reciting the list of our wants and needs, yet forget to stop and say ‘thank you’ for those things He has already done. So, since November is the month of Thanksgiving, I am going to do a 30 day series entitled Living Thankful! Each day I will offer one ( or more ) thing for which I am thankful. Some of them will be obvious, such as family, home, job, etc, but some will be very spontaneous and different.
I would love for you to join me in Living Thankful. I’ve provided a Linky Tool at the bottom of this post. If you would commit to INTENTIONAL THANKFULNESS in November, link up with me and others and let’s be thankful together.
Today I am LIVING THANKFUL for my salvation. I hope you suspected that would be the first thing, but really, it has to be the first thing. God was not obligated to send Jesus to die for me. He did it because He loved me and unconditional love is what parents give their children. Jesus was not obligated to die for me. He did it because He knew I would wallow in sin all my life, die and go to hell. The Holy Spirit was not obligated to draw my heart to Jesus. He did it because He knew I needed the new life, the new character that only could come by being changed from within by Jesus.
I am a new person. Because I have Jesus living in my heart I make better choices. Because I have Jesus living in my heart, I am a nicer person. Because I have Jesus living in my heart, I seek to live in integrity. Because I have Jesus living in my heart, I have joy and peace, even in the midst of a world full of turmoil.
So, thank you, God, for giving me a life that never ends in heaven with you when I die, but also a life that has meaning and good purpose here on this earth. THANK YOU!!
Ok, it’s your turn. Use the Linky Tool below to link your Living Thankful post to mine. Don’t be shy! It is so easy to do.
